The Cayman Islands Golf Association held the annual President’s Trophy competition over the weekend at the North Sound Golf Club.
The 18 hole competition was divided into men, senior men and ladies divisions. The trophies were awarded to the players with the lowest net scores with their full handicap allowance being deducted from their gross score.
The lowest round of the day was shot by the winner of the ladies competition Siobhan Ribbins who had a gross score of 72, just 1 over par, which meant she had a fantastic net score of 65. Runner up in the ladies was Emma Woodhouse with a gross 84 net 71.
The largest field was in the men’s competition where the winner was Ger Finnegan with a net score of 69.
The senior men’s division was won by Mick Whitworth with a net score of 71
During the trophy ceremony the golf course staff were thanked by the association not only for all their assistance in running the competition but also for allowing a “shotgun” start which meant all the players finishing at around the same time.
The next golf association event will be a Stableford competition on Oct. 28. The annual pairs tournament and annual general meeting are scheduled for Nov 29.
