Santa Run will be a jolly jog

Traditionally, Father Christmas is not noted for his athletic prowess, but the fittest Santa wannabes will soon get a chance to run for a good cause.

The inaugural Camana Bay Santa Run promises to be a fun charity event, according to the organizers. It starts and finishes at The Crescent in Camana Bay on Nov. 22 at 7 a.m. Registration is from 6.30 a.m.

Davina Tresidder, events manager at Dart Realty, saw a Santa Run elsewhere, thought it looked like huge fun and wanted to bring the experience to Cayman to create a delightful way to launch the spirit of the season locally.

Part of the proceeds will be donated to the Camana Bay Christmas Give to help local charities in need.

One Santa costume of hat, beard, jacket, belt and pants is included with each registration and along the way there will be sponsored cheer stations. Adults entry for the 3k jog is $35 and children aged 5-10 is $10.

Len Layman is one of the best known Santa dressers and he might be enticed to join in. Participating station sponsors confirmed so far are CrossFit, Starfish Village, Mizu, Waterfront and Anytime Fitness who have will have milk and cookie stops and pin the nose on Rudolph stall.

There will also be spot prizes at the end for the most spirited Santa in the kid and adult categories. One notable prize in the kids’ category will be a gingerbread house gifted by Upper Crust Bistro.
