Man arrested for 4 liquor store burglaries

Police arrested a 55-year-old George Town man Tuesday for allegedly breaking into four stores between Sunday night and Tuesday morning and stealing beer, wine and liquor.

Royal Cayman Islands Police Service officers arrested the man on suspicion of breaking into a Mini City Warehouse, C.L. Flowers and Son, the Jacques Scott warehouse on North Sound Road and Blackbeard’s Liquor Store at Buckingham Place.

According to police, alcohol was stolen from all but the Flowers premises, where nothing was taken.

Police said they searched an address on Maple Road in George Town on Monday and found large quantities of liquor.

RCIPS Detective Chief Inspector Malcolm Kay said in a press release, “I would like to issue the following warning to anyone who is offered and accepts any wholesale alcohol at a reduced price or any beers, wines and spirits from anyone under unusual circumstances as they may be committing the offense of receiving and handling stolen goods and be liable to arrest and prosecution.”

Police said the man will remain in custody as the investigation continues.
