Christmas meals: All of the trimmings, none of the work

The Christmas season is a time for gathering with friends and family, enjoying companionship and far too much food. Some years, however, people would rather spend more time enjoying the companionship than preparing the food, and this where the multiple Christmas feasts-to-go come in. Here are a few that might be welcome in the home this year. 

The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman 

Christmas feast-to-go 

Traditional beef Wellington, honey glazed turkey, or rum and molasses glazed ham, as well as caviar on request, are on offer. The feast includes salad and soup to start, and Yukon gold and truffle mashed potatoes, squash, caramelized shallots and sherry, seared broccolini, bacon and Parmigiano on the side of the main features. For dessert, there is a choice of chocolate and macadamia toffee Yule log or Christmas pudding with brandy caramel sauce. The feast is available for pick-up or delivery and serves up to six people. The Christmas beef option is $380, turkey and ham are $295, and local delivery is an additional $40. A 20 percent service charge will be added to the bill. Call 815-6043 for more information.

Holiday boxes 

This dinner includes either roast turkey or glazed ham with gravy, three side dishes, cranberry sauce, rolls and a freshly baked pie. The dinner serves 6-8 people and costs $79.99. Side dish options include rice and beans, macaroni and cheese, buttered corn, sweet potato casserole, fried plantain and potato salad, among other choices, with additional sides charged by the pound. Holiday menu 

A choice of prepared dinners is offered; each option serves six people. Customers can choose roast turkey and maple glazed ham served with bread stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, green beans and creamy mashed potato for $72. Also available: baked halibut steak topped with crabmeat and Japanese paprika panko breadcrumbs, served with tournee, potatoes and steamed vegetables and mango and roasted red pepper coulis, all for $90. A third option is slow roasted Angus beef strip loin with wild mushroom, fresh herbs, red wine reduction, grilled vegetables and jacket potatoes for $96. Holiday dinner 

The Gourmet Roasted Turkey Dinner includes a 12-14 pound turkey, which serves 12–14 people, and 32 ounces of each of the following; country-style dressing and country-style gravy, Hurley’s homemade cranberry sauce, green beans with roasted almonds, glazed carrots and au gratin potatoes. Upper Crust 


The dinner-to-go, available Dec. 24 and Dec. 25, includes portion-sized dishes for $19.95, which include oven-roasted turkey, Yukon gold mashed potatoes, award-winning stuffing, creamy Brussels sprouts with pancetta bacon, and fresh cranberry sauce. The meal also comes with a choice of chocolate Yule log or crawfish bisque, or both for an extra $4. Upper Crust will also be offering private catered menus, tailored to the client’s requests, to take away, with items such as baked ham, Yule logs, Christmas cakes and cookies.
