Pupils at John A. Cumber Primary were delighted to welcome tennis pro Thomas Neuert to their school this term for weekly tennis lessons, thanks to Cayman National’s ongoing sponsorship.
This term’s coaching was with the kids from years 2 and 3. Each lesson lasted one hour, with the youngsters using short-handled racquets, slow balls and mini nets specially designed for juniors.
“John A. Cumber has a super bunch of kids, I really enjoy working with them,” said Neuert. “They are having great fun with tennis, while learning the necessary skills.”
Cayman National’s sponsorship also extends to tennis lessons for East End, Bodden Town and North Side schools, which are organized through the Tennis Federation of the Cayman Islands in conjunction with Ritz-Carlton and Cayman Tennis Academy coaches.
Shari Whittaker of Cayman National Bank said, “The youth of the Cayman Islands are a primary importance of Cayman National’s ongoing corporate social responsibility strategy and we recognize that participation in sports provides opportunities for leadership, socialization as well as development of skills in our youth.
“They are offered an opportunity to learn new skills, while having fun interacting with their peers. We’re pleased to see the program off to a great start this year.”
