Scouts commissioner honored by Lions

Winston Hayle, the executive commissioner of the Cayman Islands Scouts Association, has been awarded by members of Grand Cayman’s Lions Club for his contribution to the Lions.

Mr. Hayle, the immediate past president of the Lions Club of Grand Cayman, received the Melvin Jones Fellow Award. Melvin Jones was the founder of the Lions Club in 1917. The award was presented at the annual Lions birthday celebration of the founder on Jan. 31 at the George Town Yacht Club.

Mr. Hayle, who has held several offices in the Lions Club of Grand Cayman, expressed his appreciation to the club for honoring him.

“I was taken completely by surprise,” said Mr. Hayle, “and it is indeed a most wonderful experience to be honored by my peers in this way. It is my sincere desire to continue in service of this community through the opportunities afforded me by the many and varied projects undertaken by this club.”

Another Lion, Andrew Eden, was presented with a diamond pin for his contribution to the Lions Club International Foundation.
