Little League wraps up

Cayman Islands Little League wraps up another successful season, its 26th, on Saturday at the Field of Dreams. The public is encouraged to come out and support the children and to watch some great ball games.

All of the seven age divisions will be in action throughout the day from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., beginning with the 5- to 6-year-old T-ball children and finishing with the youth softball games late afternoon. Each division will gather to recognize players who have improved most and displayed the best sportsmanship and will award a team champion trophy.

There will also be some kickball games for children and adults in the afternoon.

Food will be on sale throughout the day in the concession stand.

The annual fundraiser prize draw takes place soon after the final games. Top prize is $10,000, second prize is $5,000, and third prize is $1,500.

The $10 tickets will be on sale at some supermarkets all week and Saturday morning, and at the fields throughout the day.

The $5 Little League discount cards will also be available for purchase.

These grassroots fundraisers are critical to the success of Little League as it allows the program to remain free of cost to all children, organizers said.
