West Ham coaches to host football camps

Aspiring footballers will soon get expert instruction from Premier League coaches.

Maples and Calder and Grasspiece Promotions are organizing youth camps that will be supervised by two coaches from West Ham United Football Club’s Youth Academy.

The camps are scheduled for Monday, July 20 to Friday, July 24 with camps for ages 5 to 11 years, scheduled from 9-11 a.m., and ages 12 to 18 years, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday, camps are scheduled for 19 to 23 year-olds at 5.30-6.30 p.m.

Cost per camper is $175 for ages 5 to 18 and $100 for ages 19 to 23.

The West Ham United FC Youth Football Camps are the second in a series of these types of camps organized by Grasspiece Promotions.

In February 2015, Grasspiece Promotions hosted the Swindon Town camps that coincided with the second successful Cayman International Youth Football Tournament. Teams competing in that tournament included the Swindon Town Under-15 Academy team, the Cayman Islands U-15 national team and the Jamaican U-15 national team. The Swindon Town camps attracted more than 100 local players between the ages of 6 and 19.

Grasspiece Promotions was formed two years ago primarily to promote and improve youth football and relationships between the Cayman Islands’ football fraternity and its partners through tournaments, coaching clinics, player clinics, youth camps and other events.
