Police: Woman sexually assaulted in West Bay by intruder

At about 10 p.m. Thursday a man entered an apartment in the vicinity of North West Point in West Bay and sexually assaulted the woman living there after punching her and threatening her with a knife. The man was unknown to the victim, according to a Royal Cayman Islands Police Service news release.

The man is described as being of slim build, of medium-dark complexion, and about 6 feet in height. He was wearing a grey hoodie sweatshirt with a T-shirt underneath, partly orange in color, as well as dark shorts and running shoes.

A full police investigation is underway and the victim is under police protection. The police urge anyone with information regarding this incident to contact Detective Constable Emma Twydell at West Bay Police Station at 949-3999, the RCIPS Confidential Hotline at 949-7777, or Cayman Crime Stoppers at 800-8477(TIPS).
