Summer interns at Deloitte recently gave back to the community by participating in a Charity Day project.
Eighteen representatives from the company and 12 interns and their mentors helped out at the Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park by assisting plant nursery staff with daily gardening chores.
“It was great having such an enthusiastic group of volunteers for the day, and although [it was] extremely hot, everyone worked very hard at weeding all the plants in pots in the nursery,” said Sue Gibb, volunteer coordinator at the botanic park.
John Lawrus, the park’s general manger thanked the Deloitte team.
“Their dedication also helps to inspire others as we grow our volunteer program … ” Mr. Lawrus said.
Jennifer Skinner, Deloitte’s senior manager of human resources, said the firm takes great pride in its level of community investment. It donates substantially through employee volunteer time and effort, pro bono work and donations made by individuals and the firm, she said.
Deloitte staff also volunteer at the botanic park during their annual IMPACT Day, a one-day event dedicated to giving back to the community.
