Armed robbers hold up West Bay store

A West Bay store was held up by two armed robbers late Wednesday afternoon, the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service reported.

Police said the masked men entered Deliza Grocery & Variety Store on North West Point Road around 5:20 p.m. They took some cash and left on a black scooter.

Police said one of the suspects was carrying what appeared to be a silver handgun. No one was injured.

No arrests were made following a police ground and aerial search Wednesday evening.

Anyone with information is asked to contact West Bay CID at 949-3999 or Crime Stoppers at 800-8477(TIPS).

  1. Sorry if I’m not politically correct but I think it would be nice if one day we read about a pair of armed robbers getting bullets in their guts rather than a hard working shop keepers money.

To that end we must declare open season on armed criminals. Allow shop keepers to defend themselves properly. And if the net result is a dead thug. Too bad.

The people doing this were the school children who never paid attention in class and were never properly disciplined at home.

As for the police’s hopeless request for information. Is that the best they can do?

It occurs to me that many people on the police force joined at a time when the greatest violence they were likely to encounter was breaking up a bar fight.

They really didn’t sign up to deal with armed gangs. And we need police officers who WILL sign up to deal with this crime wave.

  2. Crime is totally out of control on Grand Cayman! Crime stats a highly skewed as now, seemingly not all crimes are even reported.
Skewed crime numbers=lost of confidence by general public=low moral within police service="the blind leading the blind"!
