Jarvis and McLean are champs

The rescheduled final round of the Junior Golf Championships was played at North Sound Golf Club last Sunday with 30 young golfers in various categories.

The Cayman Islands boys champion was Aaron Jarvis, who beat Justin Hastings in a sudden-death playoff after they were tied through 36 holes of competition.

The Cayman Islands girls champion was Holly McLean, with Gia Champoux one shot back.

Mark Fagan from sponsor HighWater presented the awards, as well as the US$3,000 check to golf association vice president James Walton for the 2016 championships.

Walton said, “The Cayman Islands Golf Association is delighted with the multiyear commitment that HighWater has provided. This allowed us to put on the first Junior Cayman Islands Championships, with trophies for multiple abilities and age groups in 2014, and grow the tournament further this year.

“With the continued support of HighWater, North Sound Golf Club and the parents and members that volunteer for the tournament, we look forward to putting on a bigger and better championships in 2016.”
