Dyer, 16, is Fidelity champ again

The Fidelity Fun Run series wrapped up with Dominic Dyer retaining the title he first won last year, aged only 15.

The lanky teenager won all the two-mile races on Walkers Road from John Gray School, just as he did last time.

Dyer finished Saturday’s race in 10 minutes, 6 seconds, his fastest run yet. Will Edwards (10:30) was second for the third week running and Andrew Keast (10:50) finished third.

Joanna Mansi (11:57) was the fastest female for the third consecutive week and took the title comfortably. She was way ahead of second placed Molly Kehoe (13:48) but considering Kehoe is only 11 years old, Mansi could have a serious challenger soon. Claudina Morgan (15:45) was the third fastest female.

Kehoe’s mum Lisa ran with the family dog and had the honor of being the fastest pet owner. Richard Harrison won the pram category again.

Overall, the series was well attended as always and familiar faces who often enter these community events included Rodger Yeomans, Wendy Clarke, Judy Rivers, Paul Williams and Tobias Muchene.

The weekend warriors turn their attention this Saturday to the Alzheimer’s and Dementia Association of the Cayman Islands 5K run/walk.

It begins at Smith Cove, follows along South Sound to the Avenue and returns back to Smith Cove.

Walkers begin at 6 a.m. and the run starts at 6:30 a.m.

Entry is $15 and the first 100 participants will receive an event T-shirt. All funds raised will go toward the organization’s various educational and care projects.
