Filipino hoop dreams jump back

The Philippines Association Basketball League is well under way with nine competitive teams attracting sizeable crowds to the Cox court on Eastern Avenue.

Division 3 matches started a month ago and fixtures are on every Sunday, Wednesday and Friday at 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

PABL commissioner Jan Barrozo and all the PABL members make this popular league possible every year.

Cayman Contractor Store are last year’s champions and have the best local player in Jerome Narcisse.

Impact 2 were runners-up last year and are one of the strongest teams again this season. Asian Retail are an experienced side who have been champions in the past and are lead by Christian Ferrer.

Saxon BigBro can count on local veteran Collin Anglin, the director of sports.

The other teams are Wendy’s Basketball, Amianan, Excellent, Hamlyn Electronics and PopoJebs.

Marvin Mendoza, one of the players, noted, “At every game there is delicious barbecue food and refreshments on sale while watching the games, so don’t worry for your dinner.”
