Tyson Beckford to host Allure Cayman Fashion Weekend

Fashionistas have a fashionable long weekend to look forward to.

Hot on the heels of the Nicole Miller Fashion Show, scheduled for Nov. 5, is the Allure Cayman Fashion Weekend, Nov. 7.

The event, on the rooftop of the Grand Cayman Beach Suites resort, Seven Mile Beach, will showcase apparel by international designers, including BCBG MAXAZRIA, Yumi Katsura, Trefle Swimwear, Carlton Jones Collections and Planet Zero Motorsports.

Local designers will also be featured, including Isy B., who will be featuring her luxe resort line; Olivia B, who will showcase her Parisian-themed collection; and YNC, who will send models down the runway in their island-inspired urban street wear.

More than 20 local models will walk the runway, modeling the fresh designs, all of which will be available to order direct from the designers on the night.

The show, which kicks-off at 7:30 p.m., will be hosted by American actor and model Tyson Beckford, who perhaps is best known as the Ralph Lauren Polo model and for his stint hosting the Bravo TV program “Make Me a Supermodel.” Supporting Beckford in his hosting duties will be local personality Monica Walton, the host of the TV show “Discover Cayman.”

The event will also include music by Cotterell, as well as artwork by Al Ebanks.

The event is spearheaded by Pearlina McGaw-Lumsden, who began her recent foray into fashion as host and executive producer of the TV show “Beyond the Red Carpet,” which airs on Cayman 27.

McGaw-Lumsden said in a press release that the show will feature chic resort and swimwear ideal for the Cayman buyer, as well as couture bridal wear. She added that the showcase aims to highlight Cayman as a fashion destination.

“The idea is for the event to draw international fashion consumers, designers and bloggers,” McGaw-Lumsden said.

“While we are totally focused on providing a leading-edge fashion experience to our beloved Caymanians, we know the long-term benefits of holding a fashion event lay in the tourism and economic boost it can give the Cayman Islands.

“Our mission at Allure Cayman is to celebrate, showcase and inspire international and local style minds, whilst highlighting Cayman as an emerging fashion capital. This event is about more than beautiful clothes and impeccable designs. Allure Cayman is about changing the landscape of fashion in the Caribbean.”

Second-row tickets are $225 (front row tickets are sold out). General admission is $200, or two tickets for $300. Tickets include valet parking. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available from NKY Collections, Fifth on Seven and Renaissance Beauty Salon. Part of the proceeds will be donated to Lean on Me, a local charity whose main focus is raising money for individuals and organizations in the community in need of assistance. Trunk Show

Supporting the fashion show – and providing an enticing glimpse of some of the apparel set to hit the runway at Allure Fashion Show – is a Trunk Show at NKY Collections, Camana Bay. The Trunk Show will feature designs from BCBG MAXAZRIA’s holiday and spring 2016 collections, as shown at New York Fashion Week, on Nov. 7, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The BCBG New York corporate sales team will be at the trunk show and available to answer any questions. All clothing will be available for pre-order.

Clothing by popular designer BCBG MAXAZRIA is to be showcased at the fashion show, as well as at a Trunk Show at NKY Collections.
