On Sunday, the Carolina Panthers and the Denver Broncos will fight it out in the 50th NFL Super Bowl, and bars island-wide are preparing for crowds to descend to watch the action, the halftime show, and the much anticipated commercials in between. Here are some venue options for the super fans in your family.
Super Bowl 50 pre-game broadcasts begin at 3:30 p.m. on CBS. Kickoff is at 6:30 p.m.
Legendz has long been a favorite for sports fans to cheer their teams in triumph or defeat. The large air-conditioned bar allows up-close and personal viewing on nine TVs, (with three screens in neighboring Eats), and cozy reserved booths allow for larger groups of up to eight people to dine and drink while watching the action.
The extensive menu caters to all culinary preferences, and drink specials will include bucket specials on beer and happy hour prices from 4:30-7 p.m. with beer, draft and highballs for $3.25, 6-ounce wine for $4, 9-ounce wine for $6, Prosecco for $5 and cocktails for $4.
Coconut Joe’s Beach Bar & Grill
For those who wish to watch the game al fresco, Coconut Joe’s is an intimate venue with great atmosphere. Conveniently situated on West Bay Road, their two big screens, four TVs on the deck and another two inside allow for uninterrupted viewing. $18 buckets of Bud and Bud Lite beer, Rum Punch specials and 75 cent wings are on the game menu.
Duke’s Seafood & Rib Shack
Another al fresco venue choice is Duke’s. A stone’s throw from Public Beach, this family friendly restaurant is the perfect place to watch the show after a game of beach volleyball across the road. Seating is available indoors or outdoors, with benches allowing for large groups. From 4 p.m. Duke’s will be hosting a Special Edition Sunday BBQ, and there will be Coors Light bucket specials.
Indoor and outdoor seating is also available at Lone Star, as well as an extensive menu of chicken wings, quesadillas, potato skins, burgers, barbecue and much more.
More than 20 big screens and one giant screen will be showing the action, and there will be Coors Light bucket specials. There will also be a tailgate barbecue in the parking lot from 4 p.m. offering even more football fare.
Fidel Murphy’s Public House
Another local favorite for sports enthusiasts is Fidel Murphy’s in Queen’s Court. There will likely be a large crowd making a day of it here as six TVs in this cozy indoor venue will be showing the rugby 6 Nations Championship in the morning, and the Super Bowl in the afternoon.
The kitchen will be serving 75 cent wings and $2.50 jerk pork sliders, and there will be happy hour prices on drinks.
Popular night spot Whiskey Mist in The Strand is not going to disappoint its loyal customers on Sunday. The venue has eight screens which will be showing the Super Bowl, and they will also be showing the 6 Nations rugby matches earlier in the day for those who want to enjoy a full day of sport.

The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman is showing the game at its outside bar, Bar Jack, situated on the beach side of the hotel, near the ocean and the vast pool area. No reservations are necessary and there will be three TV screens in the restaurant area, as well as three screens at the bar. The venue will be offering its usual menu, which includes a variety of Niman Ranch burgers, fresh salads, tacos and more.
Karoo in Camana Bay is hosting its usual Sunday BBQ Brunch from 11 a.m.–3 p.m., followed by an all-you-can-eat barbecue from 5 p.m. The barbecue costs $25 and offers prime rib, beef steak, barbecued pork ribs, jerk chicken and pork, burgers and hot dogs, as well as some delectable side dishes. An a la carte menu is also available featuring quesadillas, chicken wings, burgers and pizzas.
Karoo has two outdoor screens and four indoor screens, as well as a stellar surround sound system. Limited table reservations available.
Even with such a selection of viewing spots, many may prefer to avoid the crowds and watch the game from the front row seats of their comfy couch.
