A kitesurfer in South Sound helped police track down two burglars Monday, after he spotted the suspects breaking into his home.
Royal Cayman Islands Police said the kitesurfer observed what appeared to be three young men running from the back of his home around noon Monday. He came ashore and found property missing from the home, police said.
Officers on patrol were flagged down by the kitesurfer. They spotted three youths who matched the description of the burglars.
Two of the burglary suspects led police on a lengthy foot chase through South Sound that ended near the Rugby Club building. Two of the three suspected burglars, both juveniles, were arrested and remained in police custody Tuesday.
The third suspect escaped during the pursuit.
