Joined by 30 of their closest friends and family members, 22-year-old Lavessa Welcome and 25-year-old Travis Campbell exchanged their “I do’s” last month at Smith Cove.
The couple, who have been together for five-and-a-half years, first met on Sept. 3, 2010, when Lavessa started her first job, working at the Foster’s Countryside location. Travis was already employed with the company then.
They began dating in January the following year.
“I’ve always imagined myself having a big wedding,” said Lavessa, who planning her own wedding with the help of her mother, Lavern.
On her wedding day, Lavessa walked down the aisle in a long strapless gown fitted with a train. She was given away by her father, Rodney, and maternal grandfather, Winston Bodden.
For the groom, hearing his bride say “I do” was his favorite aspect of the wedding, whereas for Lavessa, exchanging the rings served as her fondest memory.
“I almost put [his ring] on the wrong hand,” she laughed.
The couple got engaged at their home in October 2014.
Following Travis’s proposal, the couple went shopping for their wedding bands.
“We sort of had a mini honeymoon, but plan to take the real one at a later time,” said Lavessa.
The couple hopes to honeymoon in Rome, Italy.
Lavessa of East End, is a receptionist, and Travis of St. Catherine, Jamaica, is a merchandise supervisor. They were pronounced man and wife by Joy Basdeo of Simply Weddings on June 11.
