Summer Splash Party to beat the heat

Playing in the Camana Bay fountains is a great way to cool down.

The mercury is rising – of that there is no doubt – and islanders are looking for ways to beat the heat. Staying inside in the air conditioning is one option, but then what fun is that when the sun is shining?

On Saturday, Camana Bay is holding its Summer Splash Party from 2-7 p.m. It’s a chance for families to explore The Crescent and surrounding area while children play in the fountains.

Basically, a big outdoor party is being planned with music, games, food and entertainment for all ages.

Décor featuring the hottest summer trends – including tropical pineapples and floaties – will welcome guests to The Crescent. The dancing fountains nearby will be the perfect spot for little ones to cool down and play with Imagination Playground – a game that encourages kids to build animals, rocket ships, houses and more with foam blocks provided in all shapes and sizes.

Everyone is invited to get into the groove and dance along to sizzling tunes with live music by DJ Lin. Entertainment will also include carnival games throughout the day, with exciting prizes to be won. Festival snacks will be available, with food stations carrying essentials like cotton candy and popcorn.

Camana Bay is also home to two parlors, perfect for cooling down in the summer. There is the Häagen-Dazs ice cream shop as you enter from the parking lot, and the Gelato & Co. Cremeria Italiana on The Crescent. Both serve up delicious treats, with the Gelato shop lauded as serving “the genuine article, just like it is in Italy,” according to

If after a day in the sun you wish to take a step indoors, maybe take the kids to the family friendly “The Secret Life of Pets,” currently showing at the cinema. Then you’ll know what your animals have been up to while you’ve been out at the Summer Splash Party.
