There has been a slow trickle of liquor license renewal applications arriving at the Department of Commerce and Investment, prompting the department to remind licensees that the Friday, Aug. 19 deadline is looming.
According to DCI director Ryan Rajkumarsingh, based on the number of applications received to date, most liquor license holders have not yet submitted their paperwork.
“Normally by this time, most licensees would have applied,” he said.
He said applicants who miss the deadline will have to apply for a new liquor license.
In a bid to speed up the process and reduce costs, he said, this year the DCI emailed application forms to current license holders instead of posting them. Forms are also available on the department’s website, www.dci.gov.ky; and at the Business Licensing Counter at the Government Administration Building.
At the board’s annual session on Friday, Sept. 30, only applications that are complete, with either inspection certificates or proof of inspection requests will be considered.
