The Tennis Federation of the Cayman Islands is being sponsored by PwC for the eighth consecutive year.

The money supports the federation’s national junior circuit in which players in three age divisions (11 and under, 13-U and 18-U) compete for national ranking points in a series of tournaments. About 40 youngsters take part in the series, which culminates in a master’s championships.

The top three ranked players in each division also get the chance to join the Elite Squad, also funded through PwC’s sponsorship. The squad is run by coach Dale Avery of the Cayman Islands Tennis Club in South Sound. During 90-minute training sessions on Friday afternoons, players work on technical, tactical, physical and mental aspects of the game.

Simon Gunn, president of the Tennis Federation, said, “We are delighted that PwC has continued to support our juniors …. The level of tennis continues to get better year on year, and this year we have many new players competing in the 11 and under division, making this year particularly exciting.”

PwC Marketing and Communications Senior Associate Leslie Wilson said, “Supporting programs such as the national junior circuit … not only provides a positive environment for the kids, but plays a key role in enhancing their skills and helps to develop them for the future.”
