In Round 5 of the PwC Junior Tennis Circuit Tournament last weekend at the Cayman Islands Tennis Club, the 11-U division featured two juniors who started playing tournaments only this year. They had the opportunity to play against each other.
Xavier Marshall and Rafael Wejbora faced off in a heated final match with Xavier winning 6-3. 6-4, his first tournament victory, according to a press release.
The 13-U division had the most entries and was also the most competitive of all divisions in the tournament. Jake Booker defeated Oskar Bjuro 6-2, 7-5 in the finals. Caden Stradling defeated Willow Wilkinson in a three-set match for third and fourth place. In the consolation final, Alex Priestley beat newcomer Sebastian Bjuro 6-2 6-2.
In the 18-U division, four players were in a round-robin draw. Top female player Jade Wilkinson came out on top, with Calum Lindsay in second place.
Rob Seward and Dale Avery were the tournament directors. Simon Gunn of the Cayman Islands Tennis Federation took care of umpiring duties.
Junior tennis in Cayman has seen great results this summer. Seven of the nine juniors who played in a tournament in Jamaica in July won first or second place. Jake Booker won a tournament in Canada, and Lauren Fullerton won the title in her division at a tournament in Michigan.
