A slight glitch in travel plans delayed incoming Royal Cayman Islands Police Commissioner Derek Byrne’s start date by one day.
Police officials confirmed the new commissioner missed a connection in Miami airport Thursday and was not able to arrive in Grand Cayman until Friday.
Mr. Byrne, a career man with the Irish national police force An Garda Siochana, was recruited for the Cayman Islands post in August.
He’s now due to report to work Monday.
