Rob Jackson, a Cayman Islands Sailing Club member, finished ninth in the Laser World Championship, Master’s Radial competition on the Pacific coast of Mexico earlier this year.

Jackson said his finish “was ahead of where I reasonably thought I could get to in a fleet with a number of ex-World and ex-Olympic hotshots.

“As the lone Cayman entrant, I was pretty happy to stay ahead of all the boats from six of the competing nations and … only Brazil and New Zealand managed to sneak both their boats ahead of me! It was one of the best events I have attended.”
