Manslaughter arrest in 2015 drowning death of Risco Batten

Police arrested a 63-year-old man this week on suspicion of manslaughter and cruelty to a child in connection with the case of the 14-year-old boy who drowned off South Sound.

The man is on police bail.

Risco Batten was living at the Bonaventure Boys Home in November 2015 when he drowned while on a field trip at the beach near the South Sound Cemetery.

Police and the CAYS Foundation, which runs the home, said at the time that the boy got into trouble while swimming.
