On the opening day of swimming at the FINA World Championships (25m) on Dec. 6 in Windsor, Ontario, all three of Cayman’s swimmers – Lauren Hew, Alison Jackson and Alexander McCallum – were in the water.

Jackson narrowly missed out on a personal best time in her 200m Freestyle event, but she, Hew and McCallum all turned in personal best times for the rest of the swims.

Hew’s 200m Freestyle time of 2:03.46 and her 100m Backstroke time of 1:03.35 are both new Cayman Islands Amateur Swimming Association and Cayman Islands National Senior Girls records.

In Wednesday’s competition, Jackson and Hew were to compete in the 100m Freestyle; McCallum had a day off.
