The MS Amadea cruise ship, sailing from Puntarenas, Costa Rica to Nassau, Bahamas through the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico called in to Cayman Brac on March 30.
The Phoenix Reisen ship carries 571 passengers and 313 crew. The MS Amadea’s 21-day cruise stopping in to the Brac makes up one leg of a 135-night journey for the ship which began in Villefranche-sur-Mer, France, in the Mediterranean in December 2016 and ends in Hamburg, Germany, in May 2017.
District Administration marketing and promotions manager Chevala Burke said the visitors from the ship were greeted by music from DJ Slim and took part in various tours of the island, as well as visiting the public beaches, Le Soleil d’Or Beach Club and Cayman Brac Beach Resort.
Ms. Burke said some guests rented cars and went scuba diving.
“It was a great economical injection into the island that day, and feedback from the ship is that the guests enjoyed themselves and were very pleased with their visit to Cayman Brac and what it had to offer,” said Ms. Burke. Cruise ships visit the Brac on an ad-hoc basis, with 5 scheduled to call in 2017.
