Nine graduates of the University of the West Indies and more than 200 other program participants were honored at an award ceremony Dec. 10 at John Gray High School.
The university has an open campus site on Grand Cayman, allowing students to take online courses. Of the graduates, four received master’s degrees, one was awarded a bachelor’s degree, two got associate degrees and two others were given certificates.
Health, Environment, Culture and Housing Minister Dwayne Seymour was keynote speaker for the event.
Livingston Smith, acting dean of academic affairs and director of research and publication for the University College of the Cayman Islands, received the inaugural UWI Alumni Recognition Award for his contributions to the Cayman Islands.
