It seems that two movers and shakers in the service industry are finally coming together. The Thai Group Ltd., known for Thai Orchid Restaurant and Touch of Thai Spa, has purchased The Attic Sports Lounge and Obar Nightclub in Queens Court Plaza, and is joining forces with master mixologist Lachlan Morris.
Morris’s extensive background in the cocktail world will no doubt come in handy as the new owners plan to expand the offerings in both venues, including bartending and mixology workshops. The hope is that the workshops will encourage Caymanians who are interested in the industry to sign up and learn more about what can become a lucrative career.
Over the next six months, patrons can expect to see more entertainment added to the schedule with international guest performers taking to the stage and a karaoke night for singers eager to show off their talents.
The Attic will be promoting game nights and corporate pool and dart tournaments, not to mention its brand new kitchen which will be opening later in the year.
Both The Attic and Obar have weathered the closings of other clubs over the years, and have evolved as the social scene has changed over the years. The new ownership should expand the client base, particularly as Morris has a following in his own right after working at many popular Cayman bars.
“It is our wish to work with local promoters and entertainers across the island bring an all-encompassing experience to the Seven Mile strip,” says Morris. “We are looking at additional programs, including a taxi program for vacationers to get back to their hotels safely.”
So, if you feel like shooting some pool followed by shaking your tailfeather, you can still stop by The Attic and Obar for well-crafted cocktails, table service and some top local DJs.
The owners may have changed, but the game remains the same: Offering clients a safe, friendly environment where they can dance the night away.
The Attic Sports Lounge is open seven days a week from 4 p.m. and Obar Nightclub is open Monday-Wednesday and Friday until 3:55 a.m.
