Grab that little black dress and orange accessories for the 5th Annual Meals on Wheels Orange You Glad Gala on April 21 at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman. The event has become a staple in Cayman’s social calendar and offers a great opportunity to catch up with those you haven’t seen in a while as you support a wonderful cause.
The night kicks off with the band Safeword playing some classic rock music during cocktail hour, a live music duo during dinner and then top DJs from OneWorld Entertainment. There will also be an array of must-have silent and live auction items up for grabs, including private chef dining experiences, staycation packages for a weekend getaway, brunch parties, diamonds and more.
For those looking to expand their art collection, there will be gorgeous original works of art and prints by local artists, including Chris Christian, Al Ebanks, Virginia Foster, Charles Long, Gordon Solomon and up-and-coming talents such as Andrew and Kylie Christian.
A new feature this year will be the Dine and Dash wall, where attendees who donate $25, $50 or $100 will receive a gift certificate for equal value to an array of Cayman’s best restaurants. Other exciting additions include a secret door prize and surprise live performances.
The night provides an opportunity for Meals on Wheels to recognize the incredible work that is done through its non-profit program which delivers approximately 4,000 meals each month to seniors, shut-ins and differently abled individuals throughout our community. The meals are delivered by a dedicated group of 100+ volunteers who inspire and encourage wellbeing and prevent isolation, which can lead to depression, among other illnesses.
Meals on Wheels has identified more than 150 seniors and infirm people in the various districts who are waiting for assistance.
Unfortunately, the non-profit is not in a financial position to begin feeding them and the organization is hard at work seeking additional funding. It costs $5 a day to feed a senior in need and this event is the largest yearly fundraiser for Meals on Wheels, without which it would not be able to offer the services that it does.
So, grab a group of girlfriends or your hubby for an awesome date night and get your 10 top tables and tickets today!

The non-profit offers many seniors the opportunity to maintain their independence in their homes and provides a safety check. Meals on Wheels relies on the support of more than 100 volunteers who deliver the meals five days per week, an annual government grant, donations and fundraising efforts.
