Some much anticipated films arrive at the cinema in the next month, including the return of the Avengers in “Infinity War,” “Deadpool 2” and “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” which explores the origins of Han Solo.
Apart from these almost guaranteed blockbusters, it is a bit of a mixed bag. There is the inspirational “I Can Only Imagine” and the remake of the original “Overboard,” this time starring Anna Faris and Eugenio Derbez. Faris is a very competent comedic actress but why studios seem to be pushing Derbez in film after film is a bit of headscratcher. None of his recent movies (“Geostorm” and “How to be a Latin Lover”) really made a dent at the box office, yet they keep marching him out. Unfortunately, advance buzz of this flick is not positive. Maybe we’ll all be surprised.
“Breaking In” is the fare on offer for thriller fans and “Life of the Party” brings the comedy.
“Ladybird” was released last year, so it seems that after “Phantom Thread” last month, Camana Bay Cinema is giving people the chance to see Oscar-nominated films on the big screen.
