NEW: Fatal car accident in North Side

    UPDATE, 6:50 a.m.: At around 12:15 a.m. Monday, police concluded the on-site investigation and fully reopened the road to traffic.


    UPDATE, 11:40 p.m.: Police reopened one lane of North Side Road to traffic as of 11 p.m. Sunday.


    One person died and two people were hospitalized following a single-car accident in North Side just before 8 p.m. Sunday.

    Officials closed the North Side Road in both directions while investigating the wreck. As of 9 p.m., two fire trucks were at the scene along with police vehicles. Officers were in the process of taking measurements and accident reconstructionist Colin Redden was taking photos.

    The vehicle is just west of the Ronald Forbes Playfield, and on the north side of the north coast road, west of the junction with Frank Sound Road.

    According to a statement from police, the vehicle, containing a driver and two passengers, crashed into a light pole.
