The long-time George Town headquarters of the Progressives political party is being sold, and party officials will have to move out once the sale takes effect.
Progressives General Secretary John Meghoo said no sale had been agreed as of Monday for the property and home on Crewe Road, across from the Island Montessori [*] school, which the Progressives party has rented for more than 10 years.
Mr. Meghoo said George Town East MLA Roy McTaggart, a Progressives member, has also been running his constituency office out of the building. Mr. McTaggart will have to move out as well, but it is not known if the party leadership and Mr. McTaggart will continue to share an office in the future.
Under single-member constituencies, each MLA is entitled to have their own constituent office within their electoral district.
Mr. Meghoo said no decisions have been made on where the new George Town party headquarters will be located.
