It was a busy weekend for Cayman’s junior golfers.

Brothers Justin and Andrew Hastings completed in a two-day tournament at the Grand Cypress Golf Club in Orlando, Florida, on May 12-13, as part of the IMG Junior Golf Tour.

Justin won the 11-14 boys age group by 12 shots, with scores of 2 under par 70 and even par 72, leaving him with an overall tournament score of two under par on a 6,355 yard course. Following the tournament, Justin was awarded the IMG’s U-14 Player of the Year award.

Andrew, who was one of the youngest players in the same age group, finished in T9 place following scores of 87 and 81.

Just down the highway on the same weekend, another pair of brothers, Andrew and Aaron Jarvis, competed in the FCWT Tour Open at Falcon’s Fire in Orlando, Florida, in the 15-19 boys age group playing on a 6,843 yard course.

They both finished Round 1 tied in second place, each posting a score of 2 over par 74.

Aaron made a good run on Sunday by posting an even par round of 72, but came just one stroke short of forcing a playoff for the championship, finishing in second place with a tournament total of 2 over par. Andrew had a tougher start to the day, but played some solid golf and finished in fourth place.

The junior golfers have a very busy summer, representing the Cayman Islands in both the Junior National Team and the Men’s National Team in various tournaments.
