Five vehicles collided Wednesday afternoon on the eastbound lanes of Shamrock Road, near the Savannah Primary School.
A white Nissan Caravan, a red Chevrolet Cruze, a gray Honda Civic, a black Toyota Mark X and a burgundy Mitsubishi Pajero were involved in the crash, which occurred around 4:20 p.m.
Police said they believe the crash happened when the first car in the line of traffic, the Pajero, slowed in order to turn and the car behind it, the Nissan, collided with it, causing a chain reaction in which all five vehicles were hit.
The driver of the Chevrolet was transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital and treated for minor aches and pains. The occupants of the other vehicles declined medical attention, and there were no other injuries, police said.
The eastbound lanes were blocked for a little over an hour and officers at the scene directed traffic until the roadway was reopened.
