Maples and Calder has opened a new office in Jersey. The offshore law firm said it now provides Jersey legal services in the corporate, finance and investment funds areas, as well as listing agent services for the listing of securities on the International Stock Exchange in the Channel Islands.
Maples and Calder said the new offering was a natural evolution and will complement its existing British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands and Irish legal services.
“This office marks another milestone for Maples and Calder,” said Global Managing Partner Alasdair Robertson. “We are excited to announce this addition to our global presence, which affirms our long-term commitment to our clients, providing them with greater choice to complement our existing services.”
The firm has made three senior hires to support the expansion. The office is managed by Jersey advocate Chris Byrne, who has more than 20 years’ experience in the Jersey legal market as a senior partner at another international firm in Jersey.
He is joined by Simon Hopwood and Paul Burton. Mr. Hopwood is an investment funds expert who specializes in private equity and real estate funds. Mr. Burton is a corporate and finance specialist and Jersey advocate who has experience in public and private M&A, corporate and investment structuring, debt financing and capital markets transactions.
