Cayman Associated School of Karate’s Sensei Pedro Reis has been selected to represent the Cayman Islands at the World Karate Federation’s 24th Senior World Championship in Madrid, Spain, in November.
Reis will be representing Cayman at the highest level of international karate. The tournament will be the largest event leading up to karate’s debut at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
The WKF World Karate Championships will see more than 1,000 athletes, representing more than 100 countries.
On Saturday, Oct. 20, from 4-5 p.m. at Kings Sports Centre, Reis will be officially introduced as the Cayman Islands Karate Federation’s choice athlete. This event will include an overview of international sport karate, speeches, discussion of tournament rules and demonstrations by both elite youth athletes and Sensei Pedro Reis.
Students, family and friends of the school, as well as the general public, are encouraged to attend.
The Cayman Islands Karate Federation is the officially recognized governing body of karate in Cayman as designated by the Cayman Islands Olympic Committee.
