Arthur Hunter, a pioneer in Cayman law and finance, has passed on at the age of 82. Mr. Hunter, the son of an attorney, served for many years at the firm that bore their names, Hunter & Hunter, before the firm became part of Appleby Ltd.
Mr. Hunter died suddenly last week while at Health City Cayman Islands.
In the early years, Mr. Hunter worked with a small group of visionaries – attorneys and government officials – who are widely credited with establishing Cayman as an offshore financial center.
Funeral arrangements have not been announced. A more complete obituary will appear later this week in the Cayman Compass.
