A section of Shamrock Road was closed on Tuesday following an accident in which seven people were injured.

Police and emergency personnel were called to the scene, at the junction of Buena Vista Drive, just before 1:50pm. Two vehicles were involved in the collision.

Shamrock Road was temporarily closed on both sides while police investigated and while debris was cleared from the roadway. East-bound traffic was diverted through Spotts Newlands Road and west-bound traffic through Hirst Road.

Police said seven people were transported to the hospital by EMS and by late Tuesday afternoon were undergoing treatment.

Both vehicles involved received extensive damage.
