A fake email alert bearing the Compass Media name has started circulating locally and the public is being advised not to open or share the link.

The scam email was brought to the attention of the Cayman Compass Tuesday morning.

It uses the headline ‘Alert! First case of Novel Coronavirus in the Cayman Island’. This is not an email from the Cayman Compass or its parent company.

Additionally, the information contained in the alert is not true, there are no cases of COVID-19 on island.

On Monday Public Health confirmed that five samples have been sent for testing.
