I read your article ‘Refunds uncertain for cancelled Cayman holidays’ (Cayman Compass, 20 March 2020). As a host who uses both Airbnb and Vrbo, how shameful that other hosts are not reimbursing the guests who must cancel! Yes, everyone is losing money, but hosts with cancellations didn’t provide any service, so what right do such hosts have to take/keep the potential guest’s money?
To these hosts, shame on you. Whatever happened to CaymanKind? How would you react if tables were turned and the pandemic forced you to cancel your plans? Would you suggest your host kept your money in the face of this unprecedented situation we are in?
To other hosts who have taken the high road and fully refunded their cancelling guests, wonderful! Especially if you have proactively contacted your guests – that truly is CaymanKindness!
