Chief Medical Officer Dr. John Lee reported on Wednesday that there were 15 new cases of community transmission of COVID-19 in Cayman, of which three are children.
This is in addition to nine travellers who returned positive results at their quarantine exit tests, he said.
Speaking in a video update, Lee said that since Tuesday, 926 PCR tests have been conducted in total across the islands.
The two hospitalised cases remain stable, Lee added, while the newest patient, who was admitted “directly to the intensive care unit”, had not been vaccinated.
Vaccination update
There have now been 111,027 vaccinations given in total across Cayman, Lee stated.
Of that total, 55,991 are first doses, representing 79% of the estimated population at 71,106; 53,684 people, or 75%, have completed the two-dose course.
In addition, 1,352 people have had a third, or booster, dose, which represents 7% of those over 50. The latest vaccination schedule, in addition to eligibility criteria – which has been expanded to include anyone over 50 – can be found here.
