23 hospitalisations as 559 positive cases reported over weekend

93% of Cayman's over 12s now vaccinated

559 positive cases of COVID-19 were recorded at 8am on Monday morning, comprising six travellers and 553 from the community, Chief Medical Officer Dr. John Lee reported on Monday evening.

23 COVID-19 patients are currently in hospital.

These results, from 3,005 PCR tests, cover the period since 8am on Friday.

The latest figures bring the number of active cases of COVID-19 in the Cayman Islands to 4,047. The total number of cases recorded since the start of the pandemic stands at 6,091, the Public Health Department stated in their daily update.

4,115 people are currently in isolation.

Public Health also confirmed that there had been 1,634 total positive lateral flow tests since the introduction of the lateral flow test programme, which are included in the total positive numbers given above.

There are 21 active cases in the Sister Islands, Faith Hospital reported, with one COVID-positive individual identified in the previous 24 hours.

To date, 107 total cases have been recorded in the Sister Islands, with 86 having recovered. Out of the total number of cases in the Sister Islands, 55 were fully vaccinated, six were partially vaccinated, and 46 were unvaccinated.

Information about the vaccination status of the positive cases on Grand Cayman, including for the hospitalised cases, was not provided in the update.

93% of over 12s vaccinated

Up to 8am on Monday, 122,280 COVID-19 vaccinations have been given in total in Cayman.

Of these, 57,779 people (81% of the population) have had at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. This represents 93% of people over 12.

Meanwhile 55,611 individuals (78%) have completed the two-dose course. This represents 90% of those over 12.

Additionally, 9,334 people (representing 13% of the total population) have received a third or booster dose.
