The number of active COVID-19 cases in the Cayman Islands continued to increase to 4,047 over the weekend. This is equivalent to 5.7% of Cayman’s estimated population of 71,100.

Of the 3,005 tests carried between Friday, 19 Nov, and Monday morning, 559, or 18.6%, returned positive.
This positivity rate has steadily increased since October and is marginally higher than last week’s average, indicating that the current wave of COVID cases has not yet peaked.
The number of COVID-19 patients in hospital has increased by two to 23, since Friday.
However, the situation is rapidly improving in the Sister Islands where active cases have been falling over the past two weeks from a high of 86 on 5 Nov to 21 as of Monday.
The total number of cases recorded in the Sister Islands increased to 107 after one new positive case was identified in the previous 24 hours.
Out of the total number of cases in the Sister Islands, 55 were fully vaccinated, six were partially vaccinated, and 46 were unvaccinated.
The total number of cases recorded in the Cayman Islands since the start of the pandemic has climbed to 6,091.
More than 4,100 people are currently in isolation either in government isolation facilities or at home.
Vaccination rates remain at 81% for partial and 78% for full vaccinations. In addition, 9,334 people, 13% of the population, have received a third booster shot.

Idealistic and naive to think this could have been avoided…
The virus will run its natural course… vaccinations of the at risk are very helpful… but i believe natural immunity in the healthier populations is required to get over this pandemic… seems the science is finally agreeing with my medical opinion
