161 positive community cases reported

161 positive results – all coming from the community – were reported in Chief Medical Officer Dr. John Lee’s Tuesday update.

There were 20 COVID-19 patients hospitalised at 8am on Tuesday, two fewer than on Monday.

716 PCR tests were conducted since reported on Monday, when Cayman marked its fifth COVID-related death.

Cayman currently has 3,936 active cases, with the total number of cases recorded since the start of the pandemic standing at 7,235.

At 8am on Tuesday, 3,985 people were in isolation.

1,904 total positive lateral flow tests have been recorded since the programme began (those results are included in the total positive numbers given above).

Meanwhile, Faith Hospital confirmed there were 15 active cases in the Sister Islands, with one identified in the previous 24 hours.

To date, there have been 120 total cases recorded in the Sister Islands, with 105 having recovered. Out of the total number of cases in the Sister Islands, 62 were fully vaccinated, six were partially vaccinated, and 52 were unvaccinated.

Up to 8 am on Tuesday, 58,084 people (82% of 71,106) had at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine – just 27 more over 24 hours.

56,063 individuals (79%) had completed the two-dose course – 25 more than reported on Monday.

Additionally, 10,748 people (representing 15% of the total population) had received a third or booster dose up to that point – 133 more than previously reported.

124,451 COVID-19 vaccinations have been given in total in the Cayman Islands.
