Two more people have died from COVID-19, the Ministry of Health announced Monday, as it reported 127 new positive cases in Cayman.
As of 8am Monday, there were 3,656 active COVID cases in the islands, with 15 patients with the virus in hospital, officials said.
In Monday’s update, Chief Medical Officer Dr. John Lee reported 125 new community transmission cases and two involving travellers.
The total number of cases recorded since the start of the pandemic stands at 7,663. Of those, nine have died and 3,998 have recovered.
The ministry has said it is not releasing personal information on those who have died of COVID, including their age or whether they have been vaccinated.
As of Monday morning, 4,309 people in the Cayman Islands were in isolation either in government quarantine facilities or at home.
Sister Islands statistics
As of 8am Monday, Faith Hospital confirmed there were 11 active cases in the Sister Islands, with no new cases identified in the previous 24 hours.
To date, 120 cases have been recorded in the Sister Islands, with 109 having recovered. Of the total cases, 62 were fully vaccinated, six were partially vaccinated, and 52 were unvaccinated.
Vaccinations
By Monday, 58,273 people (82% of the estimated total population of 71,106) had received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 56,311 individuals (79%) had completed the two-dose course.
Additionally, 12,522 people (representing 18% of the total population) had received a third, or booster, dose.

Why not? This is essential information.
Other governments release this information routinely.
If the majority of hospitalized Covid patients, including those who died, are unvaccinated this should help the governments plan in encouraging more people to get vaccinated.
I can’t understand why they aren’t doing this.
