These inventive cookies are a classic coupling of salty-meets-sweet.
The palatable pairing is at the heart of Cayman Cookie Company, a new venture producing a line of locally inspired treats.

It was an idea that came about when the family-owned company, Cayman Sea Salt, was looking to expand its product line after more than 15 years producing artisan gourmet sea salt.
“We are now three generations of salt makers who have turned to cookie-making,” says Vanessa Polack, who manages the company, with her daughter Victoria serving as chief cookie tester.
Her sister Olivia manages Cayman Sea Salt, taking over from her mother Monique, who now serves as an adviser for both ventures.
FLAVOURS
Their signature cookie is the Cayman Sea Salted Chocolate Chunk Shortbread cookie – the shortbread an ode to the British roots of Cayman.
“Sea salt is a great pairing with chocolate, and one Sunday baking we tested out a recipe and this became our signature cookie,” says Vanessa.

Other cookies in the pipeline include Ginger Rum Butter Glaze, Coconut Lime Crinkle – which they hope to have launched by the end of 2021 – along with Milo Mocha and Passionfruit Cream.
ARTWORK
The artwork on the packaging also has a Caymanian flavour, featuring island scenes.
“We highlighted the iconic Cayman-style house, catboat and, at the front, you will see a man holding thatch baskets of Cayman Sea Salt, and a woman with a big bowl of cookies above her head,’ says Vanessa.
The artwork is also featured on other merchandise including aprons and tea towels.
