Education Minister Juliana O’Connor-Connolly, who was confirmed as COVID-positive earlier this week, is being airlifted from Faith Hospital on Cayman Brac to the Cayman Islands Hospital for observation and treatment.
The minister is scheduled to be taken to the hospital on Grand Cayman by the police helicopter this afternoon, Thursday, 20 Jan.
According to a government statement, O’Connor-Connolly has been in isolation at her home on Cayman Brac since testing positive over the past weekend.
Premier Wayne Panton, in the statement, said he had been speaking with her and that she is in “good spirits”.
“This is precautionary as she requires testing that can only be done here on Grand Cayman,” he said. “She remains in my prayers and I and the rest of her colleagues wish her a speedy and full recovery.”
Meanwhile the Progressives party, of which O’Connor-Connolly remains a member, has issued a short post on its official Facebook page wishing the Minister well.
“The entire Progressives family wish Minister Juliana O’Connor- Connolly a speedy recovery. Our prayers are with her and her family in this time while she is in hospital,” the post stated.
