Caymanian hurdler Rasheem Brown has notched a new personal best in the 60-metre hurdles at the indoor Tiger Paw Invitational held at Clemson University in South Carolina, on 11-12 Feb.
The North Carolina A&T State University senior clocked 7.65 seconds in the semifinals and went on to take third in the finals in a time of 7.68 seconds.
“I’m happy with my performance this past weekend,” Brown told the Cayman Compass, noting, however, “I’m still not satisfied; I know I’m capable of running much faster.”
His time in the semifinals set a new personal best, compared to his previous time of 7.78 recorded back in 2020. His time also placed him fifth in NCAA ranking.
Brown added he is focussed on beating Cayman’s best-ever time of 7.21 seconds, achieved by Olympian Ronald Forbes in January 2018 at a meet in New York, saying, “My eyes are set on the national record.”
Brown will be competing at the Big South Conference and the NCAA indoor National Championships later this year.
