Cayman Islands national football player Joshewa Frederick-Charlery has signed with Club Sportiv Tunari in Romania.
Frederick-Charlery, 24, has already hit the training ground for the professional-level Romanian football club, which is currently in second place in Liga III that comprises 100 football clubs, divided into 10 groups.
Speaking with the Cayman Compass, the centre back said he is looking forward to settling in at his new club.
“I’m going to see the vibe, and get a feel [for my new team], and try to perform to the best of my ability,” Frederick-Charlery said.
The footballer had previously played for Oulun Työväen Palloilijat United Football Club in Finland.
While noting his appreciation for the experience he gained while with the Finnish team, he said his aim is to play at a more professional level.
“Romania is a higher country when it comes to football so it’s definitely a slight step up,” he said.
He is expected to make his first appearance on 12 March, against league leaders Progresul Spartac.
